## What the GST Verification API does

GST Verification checks a GSTIN against India's Goods and Services Tax records and returns the essential registration details: legal and trade name, registered address, taxpayer type and current status.

This is the baseline check for onboarding any business customer. It confirms the entity exists, is registered, and matches the name it gave you, which is the minimum before extending credit or settling money.

What does the status field tell me?

Whether the registration is active, cancelled or suspended. A cancelled GSTIN on an invoice is a serious problem for your input tax credit.

How is this different from GST Advanced?

This returns core registration details. GST Advanced adds compliance history, promoter information, turnover and e-invoice details.

Can I check filing history?

Use GST Advanced for filing and compliance data, or the GSTR return endpoints for specific periods.
