## Common questions about Document OCR APIs

What is a KYC OCR API?

An API that reads a photo or scan of a KYC document and returns its fields as structured JSON: name, document number, date of birth, address and so on. It replaces manual typing during onboarding and feeds the verification APIs that confirm those fields at source.

Which documents does FastKYC OCR support?

Aadhaar, PAN, passport (including the machine-readable zone), driving licence, voter ID, vehicle RC, cheque, bank passbook, bank statement, invoice, salary slip, GST certificate, Udyam certificate and Certificate of Incorporation. The Super OCR API classifies and extracts any supported Indian KYC document in one call, and the KYC Document Classifier identifies the document type before extraction.

Does OCR verify the document, or only read it?

OCR reads it. To verify, pass the extracted number to the matching verification API: PAN OCR then PAN verification, RC OCR then vehicle RC verification. The E-Aadhaar Verify API does both steps in one call for an uploaded e-Aadhaar, and the Blank Paper Validation API catches failed captures before processing.

Does it work on phone photos?

Yes, OCR runs on photos and scans alike. The cleaner the capture, the cleaner the fields, so the KYC Document Classifier and Blank Paper Validation APIs are there to reject wrong or empty uploads before extraction, and your flow can ask for a retake.

Can it read multi-page bank statements and invoices?

Can Aadhaar images be masked after extraction?
