What the I4C Check API does
I4C Check tests a mobile number against the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre database and reports whether it has been flagged in connection with cybercrime.
This is one of the few checks that draws on actual reported crime rather than inference. A flagged number has featured in cybercrime complaints, which is a materially stronger signal than any behavioural heuristic.

What does a flag mean?
The number appears in cybercrime complaints recorded by I4C. It is a strong signal warranting rejection or escalation.
Should a flag block automatically?
Most institutions treat it as blocking pending review. Decide deliberately and document the policy.
Does a clean result mean safe?
No. It means the number has not been reported. Absence of a complaint is not evidence of good faith.
