Verify a business from one GSTIN

Enter a GSTIN and get one report: GST registration and filings, company and director records from the MCA, Udyam registration and SEBI orders, with a risk score on top.

One GSTIN in, one report out

A KYB run is a short pipeline. Each step feeds the next, and a check that finds nothing is recorded, not treated as a failure.

  1. Read the GST record

The GSTIN is checked against the GST network: legal and trade name, registration status and date, taxpayer type, principal address, nature of business and return filing history.

  2. Work out what kind of business it is

The PAN sits inside every GSTIN, and its fourth character says who holds it - a company, an LLP or partnership firm, a proprietor, a HUF, a trust. That decides which registries apply.

  3. Check the registries that apply

For a company or LLP: the MCA record, its directors and each director's DIN status. For companies, LLPs, partnerships and proprietors: Udyam (MSME) registration and SEBI debarment orders. These run side by side.

  4. Score it and write the report

Everything that came back is merged into one eight-part report, and the red flags found along the way add up to a risk score from 0 to 100.

What the report covers

Eight parts, each marked complete, partial or not applicable for this kind of business - so a gap is never mistaken for a pass.

  • Business identity

Legal and trade name, PAN, GSTIN, CIN where there is one, and the constitution of business.

  • Registration status

GST status and registration date; for companies, MCA status, incorporation date, ROC and company class.

  • Business profile

Principal place of business, the activities registered under GST and the NIC codes from Udyam.

  • Ownership and control

Directors with their designation, appointment date and DIN status, plus authorised and paid-up capital.

  • Authorised persons

The promoters named on the GST record and the directors and signatories on the MCA record.

  • Financial activity

GST return filing history, the turnover slab, and the enterprise type from Udyam.

  • Risk indicators

Every red flag found, how serious it is, and the overall score and band.

  • Network

Related parties and the other companies a director is associated with.

The red flags the score looks for

Each flag found adds weight to the score, capped at 100, which then reads as low, medium or high risk.

KYB frequently asked questions

What do I need to start a KYB check?

Only the business's GSTIN. The PAN is read from inside the GSTIN, and the company's CIN is looked up from its name, so nothing else has to be collected up front.

Which kinds of business does it cover?

Companies and LLPs get the full report, including the MCA record and director checks. Proprietorships and partnership firms get the GST, Udyam and SEBI checks, with the MCA parts marked not applicable. HUFs, trusts, associations and government bodies get the GST record, and some are flagged for manual review.

What happens if one of the registries has no record?

The run carries on. No Udyam registration or no SEBI order is normal for many businesses, and it is recorded as such. If the MCA lookup itself fails, that part of the report is marked as failed and the rest still comes back.

How is the risk score worked out?

Each red flag found - an inactive GST registration, unfiled returns, a disqualified director, insolvency proceedings, open charges, a SEBI order and so on - adds weight. The total is capped at 100 and shown as low, medium or high risk, with every flag listed so the reason is visible.

Can I call the checks one at a time instead?

Yes. Each check is its own API in the FastKYC catalogue - GST Advanced, Company Name to CIN, Get Company Details, DIN, MSME and SEBI - so you can run only the ones your flow needs.
